Frankfort Fishing Derby Goes Virtual

Parents can take children fishing at Prairie Park and film a short video or take a picture of your child with the largest fish they catch.

FRANKFORT, IL — The village of Frankfort's annual catch-and-release fishing derby will go virtual this year due to the coronavirus. The "Get Hooked On Frankfort" fishing derby will be held June 1-14 with winners announced June 15 at the village board meeting.

Parents can take children ages 3-12 fishing at Prairie Park and film a short video or take a picture of your child with the largest fish they catch. Bring a tape measure to show its length and submit the footage, the name of the child, age, date of birth, address, phone and parent/guardian name to Sue Lynchey at slynchey@vofil.com by 11:59 p.m. June 14.

“Thanks to our deputy clerk, Theresa Cork for suggesting a virtual fishing derby and thanks to our event coordinator, Sue Lynchey for making it happen. Let’s go fishing,” Mayor Jim Holland said in a release.
