Frankfort Student Honored For Discus Throw State Championship

Holland said this is Stewart's second discus throw state championship and a school record for Hickory Creek.

FRANKFORT, IL — A Hickory Creek eighth grader was honored at the village board meeting on June 3 for her state championship in discus throw.

Katie Stewart was named the state champion in discus throw with her throw of 124 feet and 9 inches at the IESA Girls 8AA State Track Meet, which was held May 17-18 in Peoria. Mayor Jim Holland read a proclamation at the meeting which honored Stewart and members of the Hickory Creek Track and Field team.

Holland said this is Stewart's second discus throw state championship and a school record for Hickory Creek.
