FRANKFORT, IL — As the start of the school year approaches, schools have released a variety of different plans to families. Frankfort Patch recently offered a survey for readers to share their thoughts about their district's back to school plans.

In Frankfort, Lincoln-Way D210 has released a hybrid learning plan, Summit Hill D161 will start the school year fully remote, and Frankfort District 157-C will offer full-time in-person learning.

A survey to readers received over 200 responses.

The majority of responses came from District 157-C parents, followed by fairly even responses from District 210 and District 161.

Patch then asked parents what options they will choose for their student. The majority of parents answered that they will choose an in-person (5-day or hybrid) option for their child. There were also several responses from parents who had not yet decided, or who had chosen some type of hybrid learning.

When asked if parents were happy with the plan districts had come up with, the response was split, with approximately 100 parents saying they were happy and 100 saying they were not.

Some comments included:

"I wish 157-C offered a hybrid option."

"I'm happy there is an option, but would like to have more information."

"Full remote learning option during a pandemic is warranted and really the only smart option."

"I really wish there was a shortened day or an option for less days per week."

Several parents from District 161 also expressed concern that they didn't have an option besides full remote learning.

Parents also expressed concerns with enforcement of mask wearing, social distancing, and not receiving enough details about remote learning.

As of July 29, District 157-C is scheduled to head back to school Aug. 24, District 161 will start Aug. 26, and Lincoln-Way District 210 will begin Aug. 19.
