MATTESON, IL — The village of Matteson has filed an amendment to change its proposed casino site location in its application to the Illinois Gaming Board. Local residents and Will County political leaders shared their opposition to the original casino location, which was close to residential neighborhoods and two schools.

However, the village of Frankfort said it remains unknown if the gaming board will accept the amendment. The village of Frankfort has been updating residents via email on the situation, since many were concerned about the casino's proximity to Frankfort schools and neighborhoods.

"The village board and staff are actively working with a consultant who has considerable direct experience with the operations of the gaming board," the village said in an email to residents.
