One Injured In Frankfort House Fire: Fire District

The home didn't have working smoke detectors, the district said.

FRANKFORT, IL — One person was injured after a house fire in Frankfort on Monday, the district said. The Frankfort Fire Protection District received a report of a home on fire in the 19900 block of Pine Hill Road at 9:37 a.m. Monday.

The fire district said the first company arrived and reported heavy smoke coming from the structure. Crews then found a fire on the second floor in the rear of the home.

The main body of fire was brought under control within 15 minutes, but the second floor of the home had extensive damage. The fire district said one of the residents was home at the time of the fire, and suffered minor injuries. They were taken to Silver Cross Hospital in stable condition.

The home did not have working smoke detectors, the fire district said. The district received assistance from the Mokena, New Lenox, Manhattan, and Orland Park fire protection districts along with the Matteson Fire Department with extinguishment.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The district reminds residents that working smoke detectors can alert you to a fire in your home, regardless of the time of day. The early notification they provide can allow occupants extra time to leave the residence resulting in a reduction in the possibility of injury.
