Two Frankfort Businesses Burglarized: Cops

Three cars were stolen from one business, while cigarettes were stolen from another.

FRANKFORT, IL — Two businesses have been recently broken into in Frankfort, according to police reports. The first burglary took place Aug. 7 at Speedway gas station, while the second took place Aug. 12 at Unique Auto Sales.

Police said they responded to an active alarm at the Speedway gas station on Center Road at 3:15 a.m. Aug. 7. The alarm company told police that two people had burglarized the store, and had already exited and fled.

When an officer approached the doors, they could see the glass was shattered. Police said the interior of the building was clear and nobody was inside. Police were granted access to security video which showed the two people breaking in at 3:11 a.m.

The first person was wearing a blue coat, black hat, white gloves, green pants and a white mask. The second was wearing a black hood, black coat and a pink/red visor. The second person entered the store holding a trash bag, while the first person emptied a shelf of cigarettes into the bag.

Police said 40 cartons of cigarettes were stolen, with a loss of $3,500.

The second burglary was reported Aug. 12 at Unique Auto Sales off of Lincoln Highway. The incident is believed to have happened between 7:30 a.m. Aug. 11 and 10:30 a.m. Aug. 12. On Aug. 12, police said the business owner found the rear detached service garage door open.

Keys belonging to several vehicles were missing, and three vehicles were stolen from the storage area. A 2008 white Chevrolet Silverado K1500 pickup, a 2012 black Mazda CX-9 SUV and a 2003 tan Lexus GX470 SUV were all entered into the national database as stolen vehicles, police said.
