Two Stolen Cars Recovered After Frankfort Burglary: Cops

One car was found unoccupied in Chicago, while a man was arrested after found driving the other, police said.

FRANKFORT, IL — Two out of three stolen cars have been recovered after Unique Auto Sales was burglarized on Aug. 12 in Frankfort. A Chevy Silverado, a Mazda SUV and a Lexus SUV were all stolen from the business, and both the Mazda and Lexus have now been recovered, police said.

According to police, the burglary most likely happened Aug. 11 or Aug. 12. On Aug. 12, the business owner found the rear detached service garage door open, several keys were missing, and the three cars were stolen from the storage area.

Police said the Chicago Police Department recovered the Lexus unoccupied in the 6800 block of South Halsted at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 16.

The Chicago Police Department also recovered the Mazda, and Donnie Weathersby, 30, who was driving the car, was arrested on Aug. 18. The Cook County State’s Attorney approved charges for criminal trespass to vehicle and minor traffic infractions, police said.
