Australian Pie Shop Coming To Lake View

CHICAGO — An Australian pie shop is slated to open its doors in Lake View in early February, its owners announced. Named after a suburb in Sydney that's known for its pies, Barangaroos Aussie Pies will open its doors at 3208 N. Sheffield Avenue.

Barangaroos is set to open Friday, Feb. 8. To celebrate its grand opening, the shop will offer $2 pies that day between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., then 50 percent off all pies after 3 p.m., owners announced.

Adorned with plenty of kangaroo decor and a hand-painted black and white mural of Sydney, the shop will offer 11 small savory pies baked daily, according to a report by Eater Chicago. The menu will include options such as a breakfast pie (with eggs, steak and cheese), a Mexican pie (steak fajita, black beans, cheese, pico de gallo and sour cream), a chicken tikka masala option and a Buffalo chicken pie.

Menu options will also include sides such as soup, pasta and street corn, and Australian candies and cookies for dessert, Eater reported.

Barangaroos Aussie Pies will be Arjun and Lilly Seigell's first restaurant, according to the report.
