Home Invader Attacks Woman With Wine Bottle In Lake View

A woman woke up to find a man in her room early Sunday morning on the North Side, police said.

CHICAGO — A woman was attacked with a wine bottle and a dish in a home invasion in Chicago's Lake View East neighborhood Sunday morning, police said. The attack occurred in the woman's bedroom around 6:10 a.m. in the 700 block of West Buckingham Place, according to police.

The woman was asleep and awoke to find a man in her room, police said. The man then hit her in the head with a wine bottle.

When the woman tried to call the police, the man then hit her with a porcelain dish, police said. He then stole her phone and laptop and ran away.

The woman was taken to an area hospital in stable condition, authorities said.

Police were investigating the attack. No one was in custody.
