Home Invader Puts Woman In Headlock, Steals Butcher Knife

CHICAGO — A man broke into a 29-year-old woman's apartment in the Lake View neighborhood Monday and put her in a headlock, police said. The attack occurred at about 3:36 p.m. in the 900 block of West Cornelia Avenue, according to police.

The woman was able to escape the headlock and run to another room, where she called 911, police said. The man then ransacked her apartment and stole a butcher knife from her kitchen.

The man then left the apartment, and officers who were responding to her call saw the man on the street with the knife, according to police. When the man tried to run away, officers used a Taser on him, police said.

The woman was not injured.

The man was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center and has been placed into custody, police said.

Charges against the man are pending.
