Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Lake View Home Invasion

Police said the man broke into a woman's home and put her in a headlock.

CHICAGO — A man has been charged with attempted murder in a Lake View home invasion earlier this week, police said. The man broke into a 29-year-old woman's apartment in the 3400 block of North Seminary Avenue at about 3:35 p.m. on Monday, according to police.

Lorenzo Shorter, 22, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, home invasion, resisting police, aggravated battery and unlawful use of a weapon, police said.

Shorter put the woman in a headlock, but she was able to break free and call 911, police said. He then ransacked her apartment and stole a butcher knife from her kitchen, according to police.
