Montgomery Economic Development Corporation Has New Officers

Several will be assuming new leadership positions.

MONTGOMERY, IL—The Board of Directors for the Montgomery Economic Development Corporation has some new officers. The appointments were recently announced.

Dr. Neil Schlupp is stepping down as chairman after serving the board for nearly nine years. He plans to retire this year and recently sold his chiropractic clinic after serving the community for more than 32 years.

Doug Marecek was appointed the board’s new chairman. Doug, who is a trustee for the Montgomery Village Board of Trustees, has been involved in the Montgomery Economic Development Corporation over the years. He possesses a sense of the business community and has a strong marketing background. Marecek has been serving the village of Montgomery since 2013.

“The MEDC has been supporting our community for more than 15 years, I am excited to able to be a part of this group and look forward to continuing to help serve the Village of Montgomery with economic development in this new role,” Marecek said in a statement.

Jason Hanson, a business banking advisor for First National Bank, and Scott Vickers, First Vice President from Old Second National Bank, will continue to serve as vice president and secretary of the organization, respectively.

Don Kalish, the controller for Rush Copley Medical Center, is stepping down as the board’s treasurer, which is a role he’s held since August 2010. Kalish will take on a new opportunity as president of the Path to Recovery Foundation, whose mission is to support families dealing with substance abuse. Kalish has worked with several other addiction organizations since he lost his youngest son in 2016.

Jonathan Shedden will assume Kalish’s position as treasurer and is currently the director of accounting and reimbursement for Rush Copley Medical Center.
