Kidnappings: 3 Men Indicted In New Lenox, Frankfort Abductions

The three 20-year-olds have been indicted on charges after the November kidnappings in Will County.

WILL COUNTY, IL — Three men accused of kidnapping a woman in Frankfort and a man in New Lenox in November 2019 have been indicted in court. Justin Brown, 20, Dontavious Harvey, 20, and Terwon Matthews, 20, have been indicted on charges of two counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of armed robbery, two counts of aggravated robbery and aggravated vehicular hijacking.

All three men were arrested in December and taken into custody by the US Marshals' Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force with assistance of the Chicago Police Department.

The two charges of aggravated kidnapping come from carrying a New Lenox man from his home in New Lenox to Interstate 80/Interstate 94 ramp in Hammond, Indiana, according to court documents. The men "secretly confined him against his will" and also committed identity theft against the New Lenox man by using his debit card, prosecutors said.

The second aggravated kidnapping charge comes from taking a woman in Frankfort to Chicago and also confining her against her will and committing identity theft by once again using her debit card, court documents state.

The two charges of armed robbery come from the men taking both victims' property (cell phones) in both incidents while armed with a firearm, according to the indictment. Both charges of aggravated robbery also stem from the three men taking the victims' property while "threatening the imminent use of force" as well as being armed with a handgun, according to prosecutors.

The last charge, aggravated vehicular hijacking, stems from the Frankfort incident, where the three men took a Ford Fusion from the woman, who was older than 60, by threatening use of force, the indictment states.

Brown, Harvey, and Matthews all remain in custody at Will County Adult Detention facility. All three are being held on $400,000 bail, and the men were set to appear again in court Thursday.
