TINLEY PARK, IL — A man faces several charges after police said he battered a woman and his infant child inside the Super Target store in Tinley Park before fleeing police. Dwyane Johnson, 31, of Maywood was charged with aggravated battery to a child, endangering the life or health of a child, domestic battery, criminal damage to property and two counts of fleeing and eluding police after turning himself in to Tinley Park police, authorities have said. Both the woman and child suffered non-life threatening injuries as a result of the battery, police said.

Police were called to the Super Target at 7300 W. 191st St. on May 23 to a call of a man battering a woman and infant and were led by a witness to Johnson, according to a report. Johnson, according to police, fled the store into the parking lot and escaped the area in his car. He led a police pursuit northbound on Highland Avenue "at a high rate of speed," according to police and was eventually out of sight.

An investigation led to Johnson being identified as the man in the incident at Target and the father of the infant, police said, and he turned himself in after being contacted by authorities.
