ANNAPOLIS, MD — The Chesapeake K-9 Fund is holding its third annual "Run for the Dogs in Blue" 5K to benefit the furriest law enforcement units in the area. K-9s come with special costs, and the nonprofit works to offset those costs when they can.

The 5K is scheduled for May 19 at Quiet Waters Park (see the flyer below).

The training, equipment, and dogs themselves, are quite expensive. The K-9 Fund purchases first aid kits, surgical and rehabilitative care, temperature monitoring systems, goggles, kennels and lots more for area K-9 units.

They've even purchased a dog for the Annapolis Fire Department and two for the Annapolis Police Department.

The race starts at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 19, followed by an awards ceremony and a K-9 demonstration.
