Annapolis Man Arrested In Glen Burnie Murder: Police

An Annapolis man is being held without bond for the murder of a Glen Burnie man, Anne Arundel County Police say.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — An Annapolis man was arrested Feb. 13 for the July 2, 2018, fatal shooting of a Glen Burnie man, Anne Arundel County Police say. The victim — Dantae Nashaun Simmons, 23, of Glen Burnie — was driven to Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie by a witness. Police were called to the hospital that night, where Simmons died from his injuries.

Detectives talked to witnesses who led them to a crime scene in the 500 block of Short Curve Road in Glen Burnie. Investigators said Simmons may have known the person who shot him and that the shooting was not a random act of violence.

Leads and interviews with multiple witnesses led police to execute several search warrants and collect evidence which identified Darius Devon Mackell, 19, from the 200 block of Victor Parkway in Annapolis, as the suspected shooter. He was arrested early Wednesday morning.
