Annapolis Man Charged With Rape In Domestic Violence Incident

The 28-year-old man has been jailed on rape charges stemming from a domestic violence incident last weekend, say Annapolis police.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — An Annapolis man is behind bars and facing charges that he raped a woman in an incident of domestic violence last weekend, according to the Annapolis Police Department. Fernando Esteves, 28, is being held in a local jail, according to a police report.

Initially, Esteves was charged with first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment when he was arrested early Saturday, the police said. He has been further charged with first- and second-degree rape.

The incident occurred at about 3 a.m. Saturday, when officers responded to a 911 call for help at a residence in the 1200 block of Ashton Court, according to the police report.

They discovered a woman whom the police identified as a domestic violence victim. Esteves had physically attacked and raped her, the police said.

Esteves is being held without bond at the Jennifer Road Detention Center, according to the police report.
