Annapolis Man Sent To Prison, Deemed Lifelong Sex Offender
An Annapolis man who repeatedly abused a girl starting when she was 8 years old will go to prison and is now a lifelong sex offender.
ANNAPOLIS, MD — An Annapolis man was sentenced to prison Wednesday for sexually abusing a girl starting when she was 8 years old, prosecutors said. Brigido Lopez-Villa, 32, of Annapolis, was sentenced by Circuit Court Judge William C. Mulford II to 20 years in prison for sexual abuse of a minor.
"Mr. Lopez-Villa preyed upon the vulnerability of a child, and continually refuses to accept responsibility for the lasting trauma this victim will face as a result of the abuse," said Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Anne Colt Leitess in a statement. "I'm grateful to the jury for their thoughtful deliberation in rendering this verdict, and to Judge Mulford for passing a sentence commensurate with the crime."
On April 23, 2018, Annapolis Police received a report of child sex offense. Police who talked with the victim at the Department of Social Services Child Advocacy Center learned that Lopez-Villa had committed repeated acts of sexual abuse when the victim was about 8 years old. The victim lived in the same household as Lopez-Villa at the time of the abuse.
