Annapolis Police Arrest Suspect In Murder of Rapper Tre Da Kid
A suspect has been identified and arrested in the murder of rapper Tre Da Kid that occurred June 7.
ANNAPOLIS, MD -- The Annapolis Police Department has made an arrest in the murder of Edward Montre Seay, 32, of Chester, also known as rapper Tre Da Kid. Seay was found dead in his vehicle from gunshot wounds near the intersection of Forest Drive and South Cherry Grove Avenue June 7.
According to a police report, detectives have charged James Esau Davis III, 30, of Baltimore, with first degree murder and other related offenses. He is being held without bond. Patch previously reported that Seay initially was believed to be the victim of a one-car collision that occurred at 9:19 p.m. June 7 until police officers discovered he had been shot several times.
Seay gained national attention in 2016 after winning Verizon's #Freestyle50 rap contest, CNN reported. Seay won $10,000 and secured a deal with hip-hop label 300 Entertainment. The single from his victory was called "Run It," and was released in 2017. Seay began rapping at age six and also was a finalist in a BET freestyle competition in 2011, Patch reported.
