Annapolis Woman Dies In Weekend House Fire: Officials

The 69-year-old woman was found unconscious in her bedroom. Firefighters believe the fire broke out in the kitchen.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A 69-year-old woman succumbed to injuries sustained in a house fire that broke out Saturday at approximately 2:30 p.m. The home is located at 1430 Millwood Court. According to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, the fire is believed to have started on the stove top due to "unattended cooking" and the fire spread to the cabinets. Damages are estimated at $65,000.

Almost 40 firefighters from four departments responded to the fire at the two-story, middle of the group townhouse. Numerous 911 calls were made by neighbors reporting the fire. Firefighters found the woman unconscious in a second floor bedroom. She was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center in critical condition where she eventually passed away. Authorities have identified her as Kathleen Cecilia Jepson.
