Anne Arundel Schools Make Weather Decision For Jan. 18 Events

ANNAPOLIS, MD — With snow and sleet in the weekend forecast, Anne Arundel County Public Schools officials have canceled all school-sponsored activities for Saturday, Jan 18. District officials said that all school-sponsored activities set for Friday will go on as planned.

For the status of activities sponsored by agencies other than Anne Arundel County Public Schools, check with that agency, the district said.

Highway officials urged drivers to remember the slogan "take it slow on ice and snow" because roads may get slick this weekend.

The National Weather Service has put much of the state under a winter weather advisory from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. Forecasters are calling for snow to hit the Interstate 95 corridor Saturday morning. It will transition from snow to sleet to freezing rain to rain throughout the day.

Anne Arundel County has opened warming centers for those who need to get out of the cold.
