Attendance Up Despite Tidal Flood At Annual U.S. Sailboat Show

A tidal flood didn't deter people from attending the 50th Annual U.S. Sailboat Show held Oct. 10-14 in Annapolis.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Despite a pesky nor'easter that blew in during the 50th Annual U.S. Sailboat Show, organizers said attendance was up 14.7 percent from the previous record set in 2015. Participating exhibitors also increased by more than eight percent from the record set in 2017. The show ran Oct. 10-14.

“We could not be more thrilled with the support we received from the industry, our exhibitors and the massive number of consumers who visited from around the world,” said Annapolis Boat Shows President Paul Jacobs. “Not only did they come out in large numbers, but they were excited to see this impressive display and went on spending sprees to support all who displayed.”

A tidal flood hampered the show on Saturday, Oct. 12, causing booths to be flooded at City Dock. So, according to Trade Only Today, contractors, crews and show management built walkways, created a makeshift gate and assisted exhibitors so that the show could go on. In fact, Saturday's attendance was down by only 200 people from the Saturday attendance record set in 2010.
