Best Christmas Lights In Maryland 2018 To Check Out

Patch readers have shared photos and addresses of great local holiday light displays for a tour of Christmas lights. Send us your favorite.

Patch asked for addresses of the Clark Griswold of your neighborhood who puts up zillions of holiday lights and figures drawing visitors from surrounding areas. Are there certain spots in town that you think are more festive than others? We want to know where in Maryland to find the best Christmas decorations and lights.

Readers sent us some addresses worth driving by, along with photos and video of a few can't-miss homes decked out in illuminated glory. Keep sending in your suggestions, and we'll share them throughout the month. See tips below on helpful information to include with your submission.

Here's the rundown on homes readers have suggested, so far, keep them coming:

53 Greenmeadow Drive, Timonium. Homeowner Christine Senft says: This is our seventh and final annual toy drive and amazing Christmas display. The front yard is beautiful and the backyard is a winter wonderland for children. Starting Monday, Dec. 3, our lights will be on every day from 5 to 10 p.m. The backyard is open at that time for visitors. We have Santa Claus Dec. 7 and 8, Dec. 14 and 15, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. for our toy drive. Santa has his own pavilion. The reindeer and sleigh on the roof are a special delight. My husband, Bruce Senft, takes a month to decorate.

Robbie Mamula in Severn says that Mamulaville at 545 Ringe Drive is open for visitors. Find more information on the Facebook page Mamulaville-Happy Festivus. Mamula said he spent three weeks setting up the display, which includes 37 inflatables, 15 reindeer, 11 plastics, one 13-foot lighted Christmas tree and 72 strands of C9 Led Lights. "Clark Griswald is my hero," Mamula told Patch. "We love to get people in the holiday mood."

1905 Hunt Meadow Drive in Annapolis. Resident Katie Mansfield writes, "Years ago when my children, Matt and Hayley, were small there was a house off Bay Ridge Road in Annapolis that my son always wanted to go see when we would drive around Annapolis looking at Christmas lights. The house was beautiful with all green lights which my son called ‘The Green House.’ He loved that house and every year couldn’t wait to see it but the house no longer puts the lights up. A few years ago he started doing the Christmas lights on our house as a birthday gift to me since my birthday is Dec. 9. I let him decide however he wanted to decorate it. Well, guess who now has ‘The Green House’ or as I call it ‘The Emerald City.’ Matt no longer lives at home but he and he girlfriend, Emma, come over and do all our lights as they did today. Even the moon likes ‘The Green House’. What a wonderful birthday gift to me and from Matt, Emma, Hayley, Andy, Tom and I ‘Merry Christmas to All!’

If you spend days or weeks painstakingly hanging strands of lights on your house, trees and shrubs, or hauling multiple figurines out to your lawn, Patch wants to hear from you.

We're still compiling a list where readers can tour the best holiday light displays in the Baltimore/DC area. If your winter wonderland is worth a drive-by, send an email to maryland@patch.com.

You can also fill out our handy form.

We'll keep updating the list through Dec. 24, so keep an eye on your daily morning newsletters and the Patch Facebook pages. (If you're not signed up to receive your community's Patch newsletter, get started here.)

Send us some photos and/or links to videos of your Christmas light display. Please include the following information:

  • We prefer that the homeowner submit his or her own yard, or an immediate neighbor or close relative.
  • Include the exact address of the lawn display.
  • Let us know the dates and hours when your display will be available for viewing, so people aren't ringing your doorbell or bothering your neighbors in the middle of the night.
  • Please don't submit a Christmas-decorated home you recall from five or ten years ago. That person may no longer be decorating their house and we don't want people wasting gas.
  • Does your display have a name? Be sure to include it.
  • Tell us about any special effects, such as singing trees, stuffed reindeer, live actors, etc.
  • Does your display have a Facebook page or website? Be sure to include the links.
  • Include a phone number (not for publication) in case Patch needs to contact you.
  • We're going to assume that Patch has permission to use every photo that is submitted for this feature.

We do our best to verify each address. Don't be shy and share your creativity so the rest of us can enjoy it. Questions? Contact maryland@patch.com.
