ANNAPOLIS, MD — An illegal game of dice broken up by Annapolis police officers ended up with two men being arrested on a variety of charges including possession of an illegal drug with intent to deliver and illegal possession of a handgun. Officers were patrolling along the 1400 block of Tyler Avenue when they spied a group of people playing dice, which is illegal, the department stated. When officers approached the group, several of the men took off on foot toward the woods.

Officers on the other side of the woods along Hunt Meadow Drive tried to stop them but couldn't. After searching, officers found two suspects. Martin Smith, 28, of Annapolis was arrested and charged with possession of CDS with intent to distribute after a baggie of marijuana weighing approximately 18 grams and a digital scale was found in his possession. He also was charged with illegal possession of a handgun and six other criminal charges.

The second suspect, Tywond Blair, 21, of Annapolis, was arrested and charged with possession of CDS with intent to distribute after an officer and his K-9 partner discovered an additional bag of marijuana weighing approximately 32 grams and a second bag of marijuana weighing approximately 20 grams near the area where the suspects had ran from. They also found a digital scale and a loaded handgun, prompting police to charge Blair with illegal possession of a handgun and seven other criminal charges.
