Police Seize AR-15, Man Stabbed, Car Stolen: Annapolis Crime

Police say they seized two assault rifles from a suspect reported near an Annapolis apartment complex. This is a developing story.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Annapolis Police say they seized two semi-automatic weapons, including an AR-15, early Sunday morning after an apartment was searched following a report of an armed man. The other gun was .22 caliber rifle, they say.

The investigation started around 12:30 a.m. when police heard reports of an armed person near the Watergate Village apartment complex on Americana Drive. Soon after, police found the suspect nearby, but he did not have any weapons with him. After securing a warrant, police searched the suspect's car and home, finding the two rifles.

Annapolis police have not announced the suspect's name, whether they planned to use those weapons nor whether the suspect is charged with a crime. Patch requested more information and will follow this story as it develops.

Later Sunday evening, a stabbing injured a man on Clay Street, police say. The assault happened around 7:15 p.m.

Doctors treated the suspect's lower body wounds at an unnamed hospital. He has since been released.

Police say they have identified a suspect, but they have not released their name or official charges. Patch asked for more details and will update readers as Annapolis police release more information.

Additionally, a SUV was stolen from Eastport sometime between Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, police say. The 2004 Chevy Trailblazer was last seen parked on Madison Street Saturday at 8 p.m. The car had temporary Maryland tags, but the owners do not know the plate numbers.

Madison Street also saw an assault Saturday afternoon, according to police. Around 1 p.m., a suspect threatened a pedestrian with a knife. The victim, who was not injured, said they knew the assaulter.

Police say four unknown suspects robbed a man of his cell phone and wallet on the Eastport Bridge early Saturday morning. The robbery happened around 1 a.m., the victim said. He did not call the police, however, until 11 a.m.

A thief stole a tip jar containing about $20 from a business on Dock Street around 11 p.m. Friday, police say. Workers said they think the robber was a minor.

A final theft happened in Bay Ridge Friday evening when a porch pirate nabbed three packages from a Silverwood Circle home. The items were worth $100.
