Two Drownings In Less Than 24 Hours In Anne Arundel: Police

A 54-year-old woman drowned in Crownsville and a 72-year-old man drowned in Annapolis. Officers believe both were accidental drownings.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Two drownings have occurred in less than 24 hours in Annapolis and Crownsville. Annapolis police officers received a report of a body in the water Jan. 5 at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Dewey Drive of Crownsville. They found a woman who was identified as 54-year-old Betty Koehlerschmidt. Officials believe Koehlerschmidt accidentally drowned, but her body will be examined by the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Anne Arundel County's dive team and the Annapolis Harbormaster helped recover a man's body from Back Creek Jan. 6. According to the Annapolis Police Department, officers arrived at the 600 block of State Street to check on the welfare of 72-year-old Daniel Reardon who lived in the area and was possibly missing. Reardon was identified as the man found in the creek.
