BALTIMORE, MD — If you feel like you don't use most of your vacation days, you're not alone. American workers collectively left 768 million vacation days unused in 2018, according to the U.S. Travel Association. That's why travel organizations encourage people to recognize National Plan Your Vacation Day on Tuesday, Jan. 28, a day for people to think about planning time off for the rest of the year. It's a timely reminder as Amtrak begins its three-day sale from Jan. 28 to 30.

Travelers can receive 30 percent off trips between Feb. 16 and May 31 on select lines. The sale includes lines that serve Maryland, Virginia and DC — Northeast Regional, Acela, Carolinian/Piedmont and Vermonter. Other lines covered by the sale are the Downeaster, Keystone, Pennsylvanian, Maple Leaf, Empire Service, Adirondack and Ethan Allen.

For example, the sale price includes a trip from New York City to Baltimore that starts at $120 on Acela and $39 on other lines.

Amtrak offers other regular discounts in addition to the three-day sale. The saver fare provides 25 percent for trips booked 14 to 21 days in advance; share fares provide a 45 discount for six tickets; and one child fare is 50 percent off with one regular adult fare.

Tickets purchased during the three-day sale are non-refundable, but exchanges are allowed during the valid travel period with a cancellation fee. For more terms and conditions, visit www.amtrak.com/plan-vacation-sale.
