Teen Jumps From Boston Courthouse Balcony

A witness said she saw the teen on the atrium floor of the Edward W. Brooke courthouse after he reportedly jumped from the fourth floor.

BOSTON — A teenager who was recently arrested and charged with assault, leaped from a balcony inside the Edward W. Brooke Courthouse Monday morning. He was seriously injured and hospitalized, according to reports.

"We literally heard a blood-curdling scream," a woman who saw the scene told Patch. "And all the court officers ran outside, and we saw a person laying in a pool of blood."

The witness said she was in courtroom 17 on the fifth floor waiting for court to resume after a recess when she heard the scream. The teen leaped at about 11 a.m., according to police.

The unnamed teen jumped from the fourth floor to the atrium floor below, State Police confirmed to WHDH. That station reported the teen was recently arrested on a domestic assault charge.

The Edward W. Brooke Courthouse is situated at 24 New Chardon St.
