Thousands Of Protesters In Boston March To State House

Most of the day the protests around Boston were peaceful, but as night fell, the scene changed.

BOSTON — Thousands of peaceful protesters chanted a call and response the name of a handcuffed black man who died Memorial Day after in the custody of the Minneapolis police, after officers knelt on his neck for nearly 9 minutes. "George Floyd," they Chanted..

"No justice, no peace," they chanted at the state house.

Many of the protesters had walked together from Nubian Square in Dorchester to the State House, one of a number of major protests. Another, earlier march had protesters walk from City Hall to Boston Common. The protests during the day were largely peaceful, chanting “Black Lives Matter” and “I can’t breathe.”

They stood outside the state house area.

As evening came, a line of state police trooper SUVs drove into State House parking garages.
