BURLINGTON, MA — The Burlington Breakfast Rotary Club has started a fundraiser for the surviving victim of the Maryvale Road house fire. The fire, on Jan. 9, killed one, Kevin O'Brien, 61. His 90-year-old mother, who has yet to be identified, was rescued by bystanders.

The fundraiser was reported by BCAT. According to BCAT's Rich Hosford's report, the woman "could use assistance from the community." Organizers are asking for financial donations, not clothing.

The woman was rescued from the home by a FedEx driver and a neighbor, before first responders arrived on the scene. On arrival, first responders found heavy smoke coming from the windows of the home and flames coming from the front window. Firefighters tried to find the a second resident, but were unable to find him. They later found O'Brien deceased inside.
