CONCORD, MA — The Concord Youth Theater was given the celebrity treatment by Hollywood star Chris Evans this weekend as it opened in its new, permanent location. Evans attended the ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for the theater that holds a special place in his heart.

Evans, a Sudbury native, performed in the Concord Youth Theater, CYT, as a teen and his mother, Lisa Evans, is the executive director of the theater, according to Wicked Local. Evans credits the youth theater with being a molding place for his career — according to CBS he said the theater was, "a place to feel safe and take risks and explore what would ultimately be my career."

The Captain America star posed for photos with past and present board members of the theater and some youth who are following in his footsteps and making their own mark in the theater.

CYT is over 40-year-old and was forced to move for the second time ever, after the lease wasn't extended last year at the old Baker Avenue location. From there, the theater moved to Beharrell Street, but kept it's sights set on it's new home at 53 Church St.

CYT's permanent Church Street home includes a 200 seat theater, which they hope to fill this week for their opening performances of "Godspell." There is also a full set of theater lighting and equipment along with 8,000 square feet of space to hold classes.
