At Least 40 Homeless After Salem Fire

No one was injured in the two-alarm fire in an apartment building on Lafayette Street in Salem.

SALEM, MA — At least 40 people are without a place to stay after a two-alarm fire Sundat at the Saltonstall Apartments on Lafayette Street in Salem.

According to the Salem News, which first reported this story, there were no injuries but at least two pet cats died in the fire. The fire in the four-story building, which started around noon, left two units completely destroyed and the others with significant damage. "It was a scary fire," Salem Deputy Fire Chief Alan Dionne told the newspaper.
