Wilmington House Of Pizza Wins Pizza Wars Again, For 4th Title

The restaurant beat six others in the annual competition, winning both the "cheese pizza" and "specialty pizza" categories.

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington House of Pizza took home both prizes at Monday's fourth annual Pizza Wars, sponsored by the Relay for Life of Wilmington-Billerica-Tewksbury. The Main Street mainstay is undefeated, winning all four years. This year, it took home the prize in both categories: cheese pizza and specialty pizza.

The House of Pizza went up against five other Wilmington restaurants and Tewksbury's Anthony's Roast Beef and Pizza. In the cheese pizza category, Rizzo's Roast Beef & PIzza took second and Tremezzo Pizzeria Third. Wilmington House of Pizza's kid’s pizza won the specialty category, followed by EJ’s Fresh Pizza Grab & Go and a tie for third between LaRosa’s and Tremezzo Pizzeria.

More than 450 people attended the event at Wilmington Middle School, according to the release from the Relay For Life. THe event raised over $2,200. Relay for Life is a fundraising event sponsored by the American Cancer Society. The relay will be held at Wilmington High School on June 14.

“It was outstanding that double the number of people participated this year versus last year,” said Joe Martiniello, the event lead of Relay For Life of Wilmington-Billerica-Tewksbury, in a statement.

The 99 Restaurant & Pub and Creative Edge Pools donated beverages.

Heidi Jelev, co-owner of Wilmington House of Pizza, said she was grateful for their victory, according to the release. Wilmington House of Pizza has been in town for forty years.

"Representatives from all of the restaurants said they were happy to be at this community event and to support the American Cancer Society’s mission to save lives, celebrate lives and to lead the fight for a world without cancer," the release continued. "There were many specialty pizzas featured at this year’s event."
