St. Paul Police Release Video From Fatal Shooting

The incident happened after a police squad car was rear-ended near Thomas Avenue West and North Griggs Street.

SAINT PAUL, MN — Saint Paul Police Chief Todd Axtell Tuesday released body camera video from Sunday's fatal police shooting in the city. The shooting happened after a vehicle rear-ended a Saint Paul police squad that was stopped at the intersection of Thomas Avenue West and North Griggs Street.

After the officer got out of his squad, the driver of the other car charged the cop with a knife, video shows. The officer shot the man.

St. Paul fire medics were immediately summoned, but their lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful and the man died at the scene. The officer was not injured, according to a news release.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is currently investigating the shooting.
