Curfew For Minneapolis, St. Paul Now Starts At 10 PM

More than 7,000 soldiers from the Minnesota National Gaurd have been mobilized for the Twin Cities metro area, but some may be relieved.

TWIN CITIES, MN — The curfew for Minneapolis and St. Paul will now be in effect from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. starting Monday. At a news conference, Gov. Tim Walz and Minnesota State Patrol Colonel Matt Lange thanked the vast majority of residents who have been obeying the curfew.

Walz was optimistic about the improving situation in both Minneapolis and St. Paul as fires and general vandalism appears to be on the decline. He also admitted that he was wrong about the metro being under siege from out of state agitators.

"I got out over my skis on this," he said. "It was hard for me to fathom that this was coming internally. You cannot have that blind spot."

Minnesota Department of Safety Commissioner John Harrington says that most arrests in the Twin Cities metro continue to be residents of the state. He did confirmed two reports of cars without license plates, and is investigating more.

Maj. Gen. Jon Jensen said that over 7,000 Minnesota National Guard soldiers are currently mobilized in the area. Jensen will begin to send some citizen-soldiers back home as the area stabilizes, but emphasized that the guard will continue to maintain a presence.
