CONCORD, NH — The Concord Police Department has issued a warning to residents about a new scam that has been reported to investigators. Some residents in the capital region have been receiving phone calls from scammers claiming to be from the "Concord Sheriffs Warrants and Citations Division." The scammers are telling residents that they need to pay money due to outstanding fines at the federal courthouse on Pleasant Street or they will be arrested.

"A phone number of 603-239-2330 was given and the scammers direct callers to purchase Money Pak or Green Dot cards and bring them to a federal kiosk to pay the fine," the alert noted. "There are no federal agencies that will instruct people to use these methods of payment. There is no 'Concord County' in New Hampshire."

Police are warning residents to verify any types of calls like this to local police before making any kind of payment.
