Convicted Burglar Placed On Escape Status: NH DOC

State officials are searching for George Whitfield Johnson who is accused of failing to return to his transitional housing unit on June 23.

CONCORD, NH — A convicted burglary, who is housed in a transitional unit, has been placed on escape status. George Whitfield Johnson, 26, is accused of failing to return to the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit in Manchester on June 23, 2019, after work. The minimum-security resident was placed on escape status at around 11:30 p.m.

Johnson is 5-feet, 9-inches tall and weighs around 160 lbs. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. Johnson was last seen on Lake Avenue in Manchester.

Johnson was sentenced to prison on felony burglary and drug charges in 2018, according to the New Hampshire Department of Corrections, and would have been eligible for parole in July. According to WHDH-TV, he was arrested by the Hooksett police in June 2018, on numerous charges after an early morning traffic stop. When caught, he will face an escape charge which could result in an extra 3.5 to seven years in prison.
