CONCORD, NH — Last week's New Hampshire "fugitive of the week" was arrested Monday in Maine, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Adam John Montrose, 40, was found living inside of a camper in a cleared lot on High Street in North Berwick, Maine, according to Jeffrey White, a deputy marshal.

Montrose was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants from Strafford County Superior Court for failure to appear on a narcotics charge and the New Hampshire Parole Board for violation of parole after being convicted of larceny. He was featured July 29 — and the NH Joint Fugitive Task Force received "multiple calls" that he was in Maine, White said.

"It was due to these very strong tips that led investigators to the trailer this morning, where Montrose was arrested without incident," he said. "Mr. Montrose was transported to the York County Jail for processing and holding as a fugitive from justice based on his outstanding warrants in New Hampshire."

Authorities working on the case included deputy marshals, the Maine Violent Offenders Task Force, the Belknap, Strafford and Rockingham County sheriff's offices, Maine State Police, and the North Berwick, Greenfield and Biddeford police departments.

Montrose's criminal history dates back to November 1998 on issuing a bad check and later, violation of probation, habitual offender and felony second-degree assault charges — and violating probation and bail conditions after that. About six years later, Montrose was convicted of burglary and has been arrested and convicted on drug, weapon, theft, stolen property, and other charges during the course of last nine years.
