CONCORD, NH — The Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 NASCAR race rescheduled for Sunday has some special traffic changes even though reduced attendance is expected due to the new coronavirus.

Originally booked for July, a comprehensive plan put together by NASCAR, the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, and state officials is allowing the race to occur Aug. 2 — with social distancing requirements and additional health and safety protocols. Some of the COVID-19 safety protocols include social distancing in seating and concession lines, hand sanitizer, enhanced cleaning, allowing fans to bring in their own food, cashless exchanges, and more — as well as a waiver of risk, too, for attending.

Parking lots open at 10 a.m. with spectator gates and suites opening at 1 p.m. Tickets are still available for the event.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation, while expecting reduced traffic for the race, is still planning for as many as 18,000 people and 7,000 vehicles. Maximum congestion around the track and roadways in the capital region, including Interstate 93, I-393, Route 106, and Route 4, are to be expected before and after the race.

According to the NH DOT, on the morning of the race, Route 106 will be one lane northbound and one lane southbound from I-393 to the intersection of Shaker Road. From the intersection north to the south entrance of the speedway, there will be two lanes northbound and one lane southbound.
