Waves Of Thunderstorms Expected To Hit New Hampshire: NWS

Breaking: Storms with heavy rain and gusty winds predicted through Thursday then temps in the 100s will head into the Granite State.

GRAY, ME — If you've been waiting for the summer hot and muggies, here they come … but not before another round of what are expected to be pretty strong thunderstorms. The National Weather Service issued an alert this morning warning of storms through today, tonight, and Thursday morning. And then, some very hot temperatures for New Hampshire.

"Scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon may contain gusty winds as well as heavy rain, which could lead to localized flooding," the NWS stated on July 17, 2019. "Scattered showers and thunderstorms may produce heavy rain, leading to flash flooding early Thursday morning."

The rest of Thursday is expected to be in mid-to-low-70s with wind gusts reaching 20 mph.

On Friday, the temps in the Granite State will rise.

"Hot and humid weather is expected to return to the northeast in the coming week," the NWS stated. "Combined with increasing moisture across the region, this could lead to heat indices in the mid to upper 90s by Friday and reach 105F by the start of the weekend."
