Longtime Madison Resident Passes At 91

MADISON, NJ - Obituary provided by Madison Memorial Home.

Vincenzo LaSala, a longtime Madison resident, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 with his family at his side. He was 91.

Vincenzo was born on January 1, 1928 in Sala Consolina, Salerno, Italy to the late Antonio and Maria Rosa LaSala. He was raised in Italy and served in the Italian Army. In the mid 1950’s he relocated to Venezuela, where he was introduced to his wife, the late Maria LaSala (nee Lepore). The couple lived in Venezuela for several years before emigrating to the United States in 1962 and settling in Madison where their raised their family.

Vincenzo had a career as a stone mason spanning several decades, retiring thirty years ago. He possessed a tremendous amount of skill in working with stone and he took great pride in his work. In his retirement, Vincenzo enjoyed gardening, winemaking, cooking and eating. He loved to spend time with his family and reminisce about the old days with his close friends. Vincenzo had a deep yet quiet faith in God and never took for granted all the blessings he was afforded in life.

Vincenzo was predeceased by his beloved wife, Maria LaSala (nee Lepore). He is survived by his two devoted sons, Vincenzo “Vinnie” LaSala and his wife, Joanne of East Hanover & Antonio “Anthony” LaSala of Florham Park; one sister, Teresa LaSala of Venezuela; three cherished grandchildren, Julianna, Vincenzo & Luciano; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will begin at 9:00AM on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, followed by a 10:00AM Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Vincent Martyr Church, Madison. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, East Hanover. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation to celebrate Vincenzo’s life on Friday, July 19, 2019 from 4-9PM at the funeral home.
