6 People Arrested In 2 Burlington County Shootings: Prosecutor

Six people have been arrested in connection with two shootings that took place in Burlington County late last year, Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced. They were all charged with weapons possession and drug charges, but none were charged with the shootings.

No one was struck in the shootings, which took place in Willingboro in September, and in Maple Shade in December, according to authorities. The arrests were made between Jan. 7 and 9.

Nasir Harper, 22 of Bordentown City, was charged with two counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, third-degree receiving stolen property, third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, fourth-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance and two counts of fourth-degree possession of high-capacity magazines including one that held 30 rounds.

Samir Ellis, 21 of Willingboro; Nasir Hickson, 19 of Willingboro; and Yakim Thomas, 19 of Bordentown City were all charged with third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute and fourth-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

“I would like to commend all of the agencies that participated in this investigation for their diligence and coordination in response to these shooting incidents,” Coffina said. “We will continue to aggressively pursue those who put the public at risk with such reckless, unlawful conduct.”

The charges will now be presented to a grand jury for possible indictment. Harper, McKinney and Daymon Thomas were ordered detained by a Superior Court judge and lodged in the Burlington County Jail. Ellis, Hickson and Yakim Thomas were released.
