NEWARK, NJ— The following news release comes courtesy of a Patch Newark community member. Learn more about posting announcements or events to your local Patch site.

Newark’s Ironbound District is renowned for its restaurants, some of the state’s best. But it is also a place for sensational shopping, including products you just won’t find at your local mall. On Saturday, October 26th, the Ironbound Business Improvement District (IBID) and partners Have You Met Newark and Raise Newark, will host the third in a series of Ironbound Experiences designed to highlight the many reasons why the Ironbound is Newark’s dining, shopping and entertainment district.

Hidden Gardens and Small Plates, Big Tastes were the themes of tours conducted this summer and fall that attracted participants from throughout Newark, but also visitors from Harrison, Kearny, West Orange, North Caldwell, Perth Amboy, Sparta and other communities in the metro area.

Stops on the Sensational Shopping Tour will include Vinhas Jewelers, CS Cork, Portugalia Sales, Lisbon Wine & Liquors, Gio Docinhos and Seabra’s Marisqueira. Tour participants will learn about traditional Portuguese jewelry, new twists on old pottery, and the unique Portuguese material for bags, clothes, and more - cork. They will also take part in a wine tasting, and then head to a Brazilian chocolatier for traditional brigadeiros and other sweet treats. The tour will end at a classic Portuguese restaurant for sangria and appetizers.

“Our goal in starting these tours was to let people know you are welcome in the Ironbound District and Newark, and we look forward to sharing experiences that you can share in turn with friends, family and business colleagues,” noted Seth A. Grossman, the IBID’s Executive Director. “We will soon have our traditional lights and decorations in place for the holiday season, but the Ironbound District is a great place to shop, to dine, and to enjoy entertainment like traditional Flamenco performances all year round.”
