Gas Leak Closes Businesses, Toms River MVC Office

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A gas leak at a local business has prompted the evacuation of several businesses and the temporary closure of the Motor Vehicle Commission office in Toms River on Friday, police said.

Toms River police are urging motorists to avoid the area of the shopping plaza at 1861 Hooper Ave. in the Silverton section.

Police and fire units are investigating the gas leak and the building was evacuated as a precautionary measure.
