TOMS RIVER, NJ — Two members of the Silverton EMS squad got the opportunity to fill in for the stork early Sunday morning when a baby decided she couldn't wait to make her appearance.

Emergency medical technicians Josh Kopp and Nick McGinley were on duty overnight when the call came in at 3:12 a.m. about a woman in labor in a vehicle on the side of the Garden State Parkway, Silverton EMS said in a post on the squad's Facebook page.

When the two arrived at the vehicle, which was near milemarker 82 southbound, Kopp and McGinley quickly got to work and assisted in the delivery of the baby girl, who arrived at 3:25 a.m., the post said. MONOC paramedics also responded.

It's the second local incident where a baby decided to arrive before mom could get to the hospital; Island Heights police officers helped deliver a baby girl on Sept. 13.
