Hooper Avenue Reopened After Water Main Break In Toms River

Video of the break was posted by Silverton Volunteer Fire Company; the road was closed for 14 hours while repairs were made.

TOMS RIVER, NJ β€” Hooper Avenue has reopened northbound in the Silverton section of Toms River Monday afternoon, following nearly 14 hours of work to repair a broken water main.

Toms River police sent out an alert about 10:20 p.m. on Sunday about the break, which was near Silver Bay Road. Shortly before 3 p.m. Monday Suez Water posted on its social media that its crews had finished repairing the break.

Northbound traffic on Hooper Avenue was detoured through Ocean County College to Church Road, around the area of the break. Southbound traffic was not affected.

Suez said customers who had low water pressure or no water service should have their service back now.

"SUEZ apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks affected customers for their understanding," the post said.
