Teen In Verona Offered 'Suspicious' Ride From Truck Driver: Cops
The incident on Elmwood Road isn't being considered an attempted luring, Verona Police Chief Christopher Kiernan said.
VERONA, NJ — Verona police continue to investigate a “suspicious” incident involving a man in a truck who offered a 16-year-old teen a ride last weekend, authorities said Monday.
According to Verona Police Chief Christopher Kiernan, the incident – which took place around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday – isn’t being considered an attempted luring.
The teen pedestrian told officers that she was walking on Elmwood Road when a white delivery truck passed her three times. On the third pass, the driver allegedly called out to her and offered the teen a ride, stating that it wasn’t safe for her to be walking alone, police said.

When she declined, the driver left the scene, police stated.
Authorities said the man was described as being between 20 and 30-years-old and was “clean-shaven.” Police released the below photo, which was taken at the scene.
