NYPD Tows Tractor-Trailers On Grand Central Parkway Service Road
Forest Hills residents have long complained of tractor-trailers treating the Grand Central Parkway service road like a personal parking lot.
FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — Forest Hills residents have long complained of tractor-trailers treating the Grand Central Parkway service road as their personal parking lot, and now they can finally enjoy a respite.
The NYPD's 112th Precinct recently conducted a "heavy duty tow operation" along the service road, according to a tweet posted Monday.
It wasn't clear how many trucks the police towed.

Residents' complaints about the issue date back to at least 2015, when some voiced concerns to DNAinfo about tractor-trailers illegally parked on the service road and left in a parking lot behind Forest Hills High School, between 66th Road and 67th Road.
In 2018, residents told CBS New York the problem had gotten out of control, with tractor trailers filling the Grand Central Parkway service road near 64th Road for days at a time.

City Council Member Karen Koslowitz, who represents Forest Hills, told the TV station she's spent years working with the police to crack down on the drivers — to no avail.
"It’s the cost of doing business, so it doesn’t scare them away," Koslowtiz told CBS in 2018.
