  • Street fairs
  • Events in parks that may unreasonably diminish public use

The city plans to refund or defer fees that have been paid in connection with a denied permit.

Events that do not conflict with the Open Streets or Open Restaurants program and are for one city block or smaller may still apply for a permit, according to the announcement. All event permit applicants will be required to outline their plan to reduce the risk of transmission of coronavirus at the event and to clean the event space.

"As New York has begun its reopening process, accessible open spaces are more important than ever," de Blasio said in the announcement . "While it pains me to call off some of the city's beloved events, our focus now must be the prioritization of city space for public use and the continuation of social distancing."
