Carlucci Delivered Hand Sanitizer to Residents in Spring Valley

Sen. David Carlucci delivers 350 bottles of hand sanitizer to residents in Spring Valley last week.

(Spring Valley, NY) Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) delivered 350 hand sanitizer spray bottles to residents in Spring Valley last week. People in need of food were lined up at the Martin Luther King Multi-Purpose Center to get free groceries. Carlucci partnered with the center to hand out the spray bottles and help with the food drive.

Senator David Carlucci, said, “We’ve seen the desperate need in Spring Valley for testing, masks, hand sanitizer, and food. Yesterday, it was sad to see how many residents were waiting in line. The need was greater than what the Martin Luther King Multi-Purpose Center had. However, we rolled up our leaves and got as much food and hand sanitizer out as we could to the community. I want to thank the Martin Luther King Multi-Purpose Center for diligently helping our undeserved communities, and letting me help in a small way yesterday. I will continue to advocate to the State for more resources for the area.”

Carlucci said the state supplied his office with the spray bottles and based on his calls throughout the district the need was identified greatest in Spring Valley. Carlucci who has been advocating for a testing site there and was successful in that effort. The State approved a new testing site at the center set to open on Monday. Carlucci said it was a team effort, and he personally thanked Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee, the Spring Valley Chapter of the NAACP, Rockland County Legislator Tony Earl, and Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins.

“With all of us advocating for Spring Valley and reaching out to the State, we were able to make this a reality,” said Carlucci. “We know communities of color have been impacted disproportionately by COVID-19 and in Spring Valley we are seeing the highest death toll in Rockland County. Only through testing and data can we control the spread of this virus, establish best practices for combating it, and save lives. We thank Governor Cuomo and the Martin Luther King Multi-Purpose Center for helping to coordinate this effort.”

Carlucci added that any sanitizer left over could be passed out to residents expected at the testing site on Monday.
